Voor het thema heb ik ‘korstmossen’ als symbolische vertegenwoordigers gekozen. Korstmossen en fotosynthese delen namelijk kernwoorden met veel waarde, zoals magie, groei, voeding, samenwerking, kwetsbaarheid en bescherming.
De originele tekening ‘Rise Up’ toont het ontstaan van leven vanuit een witte, lege ruimte die zowel het ‘niets’ als het ‘witte licht’ symboliseert en die verder transformeert naar organismen.
Het werk is uitgevoerd met grafiet- en inktpotlood op veganistisch bamboepapier. De rode en blauwe accenten vertegenwoordigen de twee kleuren uit het spectrum die cruciaal zijn voor fotosynthese.
De keuze om het origineel op groot formaat te reproduceren op twee weerbestendige mesh banners, is bedoeld om de kracht van groei te symboliseren.
‘Rise Up’ is een ode aan zichtbare en onzichtbare samenwerkingen.

Pour ce thème, j’ai choisi les ‘lichens’ comme représentants symboliques. Lichens et photosynthèse partagent en effet des notions essentielles telles que magie, croissance, nutrition, collaboration, fragilité et protection.
Le dessin original « Rise Up » représente la naissance de la vie à partir d’un espace blanc et vide qui symbolise à la fois le « néant » et la « lumière blanche », et qui se transforme ensuite en organismes.
Cette œuvre a été réalisée au crayon graphite et à l’encre sur du papier bambou vegan. Les touches de rouge et de bleu représentent les deux couleurs du spectre qui sont essentielles à la photosynthèse.
Le choix de reproduire l’original en grand format sur deux bâches mesh résistantes aux intempéries vise à symboliser la force de la croissance.
« Rise Up » est une ode aux collaborations visibles et invisibles.

For the theme, I have chosen ‘lichens’ as symbolic representatives. Lichens and photosynthesis share key concepts of great significance, such as magic, growth, nourishment, cooperation, vulnerability and protection.
The original drawing ‘Rise Up’ depicts the emergence of life from a white, empty space that symbolises both ‘nothingness’ and ‘white light’, which then transforms into organisms.
The work is executed in graphite and ink pencil on vegan bamboo paper. The red and blue accents represent the two colours from the spectrum that are crucial for photosynthesis.
The decision to reproduce the original in large format on two weather-resistant mesh banners is intended to symbolise the power of growth.
